How to Search Cases by Name
Start with the court named on a notice, citation, or pleading. A name alone cannot show whether the file belongs to Fayette County Superior Court, State Court, Magistrate Court, Probate Court, Juvenile Court, or a city court. For Superior, State, and Magistrate matters, open the Clerk's Online Services page and choose COURT DOCKET. The direct endpoint showed an internal-error overlay on August 20, 2026. That outage does not mean the record is missing.
Use exact spelling when possible. Compare the court, year, case type, and party role before accepting a common-name result. The county search fields could not be observed during the outage, so no wildcard or partial-match behavior should be assumed. If the portal remains down, the clerk's terminal, counter, and telephone desks are official alternatives.
- Read the court name on the paper tied to the case.
- Open the Clerk's official services page and select COURT DOCKET.
- Use the party name and compare the year, court, type, and role.
- Record the case number before seeking a document or certified copy.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search fields | Not rendered | Unknown | The error overlay blocked inspection. |
| Court or case type | Not rendered | Unknown | Do not invent selector values. |

Fayette County Docket Outage
Retry the docket through the Clerk's maintained services directory. If the error persists, use public terminals at One Center Drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Search Policy says terminals can provide proceedings and images not found in the basic web view. Physical review is supervised, and a file may be checked out to a courtroom or judge. Ask when it is expected back instead of treating a temporary absence as proof that no case exists.
The main Clerk number is 770-716-4290. State civil questions go to 770-716-4294, criminal questions to 770-716-4293, and traffic questions to 770-716-4292. Copy forms and eCertification add more routes after the case is identified.
How to Search by Case Number
A full case number is the best search key. An official civil calendar showed 2023V-0741-C1, with a year, capital V, sequence, and division suffix. Preserve each dash, letter, zero, and suffix. The criminal, Probate, and municipal formats were not safely confirmed, so enter those numbers exactly as printed rather than forcing them into the civil pattern.
The civil and criminal copy forms also accept a case number and year. If a number fails online, read it to the correct clerk and state the court. That detail helps staff distinguish a mistyped number from a record held by another division.
Fayette County PeachCourt Access
The county docket and PeachCourt are different tools. Fayette County's basic docket is intended to list entries, but the Clerk says its web view does not include document images. PeachCourt serves participating Georgia Superior and State courts and may offer file-stamped civil or criminal documents. Anyone may register free, yet the account gate and court participation determine what can be viewed or purchased.
Registration requests a name, email confirmation, password confirmation, secret question and answer, terms acceptance, and reCAPTCHA. The official registration capture shows this access step.

What a Case Search Shows
A Fayette County case search has three layers. The docket identifies the case and lists events or settings. A filed document is the complaint, answer, motion, order, accusation, indictment, or disposition. A certified copy is a separate clerk product. The outage blocked a verified result-screen inventory, but official forms and calendars establish the fields below. Not every field appears in each court.
| Case Number | The clerk and calendar identifier. |
|---|---|
| Style / Parties | The caption and each listed party role. |
| Case Type | A category such as divorce, contract, contempt, or criminal. |
| Filed Date | The date the case or filing entered the record. |
| Status | A current label. OP was observed but not defined. |
| Setting | Date, time, judge, courtroom, and event note when listed. |
Fayette County Probate Searches
Probate records use a separate official hub. Georgia Probate Records has tiles for estates, marriages, wills, guardianships, hearings, traffic, and other modules. Fayette appeared in captured county lists for estates, marriages, wills, and guardianships, but not in every hearing, traffic, or miscellaneous list. A missing option is a coverage issue to confirm with Probate at 770-716-4220.
Estate searches use a deceased name plus death and filing ranges. Wills add executor and deposit dates. Guardianships use name, filed dates, and granted dates. The official hub image shows why a Probate lookup must start with the right record tile.

County vs Statewide Case Search
Georgia has no single statewide public box for every Fayette County case. E-Access routes users to providers such as PeachCourt for participating Superior and State courts. The local Clerk route covers Fayette Superior, State, and Magistrate entries. Probate and municipal matters use other systems. The useful comparison is local docket versus provider access, not complete county coverage versus complete statewide coverage.
| Georgia provider route | Fayette County route |
|---|---|
| Participating Superior and State courts | Local Superior, State, and Magistrate entries |
| PeachCourt account required | Public docket endpoint |
| May include file-stamped documents | Basic view lacks document images |
Fayette County Service Directory
The Clerk's official directory remains the most stable starting point when a saved portal address fails. It links the Court Docket, PeachCourt, property services, traffic payment, and other channels. Those links do not all search the same records. Property indexes are not civil cases, and a payment vendor is not a complete court docket.
The manifest's Online Services capture records those official choices.

An official PeachCourt capture also identifies the provider's civil and criminal filing service.

Recovering a Missing Fayette County Case
A name search can fail because the court is wrong, the spelling differs from the caption, the case is too new for the web view, or remote access is limited. Return to the paper that prompted the search. Match the court, filed year, party role, and complete case number. For a city citation, call the municipal clerk shown on the ticket. For a State Court ticket, use the traffic desk at 770-716-4292. Probate matters require the matching estate, will, marriage, or guardianship tile rather than the general county docket.
If the online Fayette County case lookup still fails, take the same identifiers to the public terminal at One Center Drive. Staff-supervised files and terminal images can answer questions the basic web view cannot. A checked-out file may simply be in a courtroom or with a judge, so ask when it may return. When the search identifies the case but not the needed order, use PeachCourt where the court participates, a civil or criminal copy form, or GSCCCA eCertification for a certified copy.
Restricted Cases and Access Rules
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 presumes access unless a statute or court order restricts a file. Rule 21.6 and O.C.G.A. §9-11-7.1 govern protected identifiers. A public result may show a limited header, redacted filing, no remote image, or no entry. That outcome does not justify guessing about the case.
Juvenile files are especially sensitive. Fayette Juvenile Court handles delinquency, dependency, CHINS, and juvenile traffic, and some matters may be sealed under O.C.G.A. §15-11-701. Ask the clerk what order or law controls and whether an authorized or redacted route exists. Court-file inspection follows court rules and clerk process. Georgia's Open Records Act applies to non-court agency records and is not a substitute docket request.
